Health Liberation Now! Launches All Or None, A Call for Global Solidarity with Trans People

A new landmark investigation reveals the network where anti-trans and anti-sex work activists work with the Christian Right to push trans people from public society.

Health Liberation Now! (HLN) is starting Pride Month with a bang again: by releasing the All Or None campaign, a call for global solidarity with trans and gender diverse people following years of escalated attacks on our right to exist freely.

From the All Or None campaign page:

The fight for trans rights is the first beachhead in the global fight for human rights. Trans and gender diverse people are under attack by highly coordinated, international networks. We are in every community dating back to the dawn of humanity. The attacks on us are already bleeding over into attacks on other vulnerable groups because our rights as human beings are inherently linked. The opposition aims to enforce an outdated and abusive hierarchy and if we don’t stop them now it will spread fast. A threat to trans people is a threat to us all.

The solidarity campaign is informed by HLN’s landmark investigation Rights For Me, Not For Thee: How Anti-Trans Feminists Took Their Advocacy to the United Nations, a deep dive into the international anti-trans feminist network Women’s Declaration International (WDI). Rights For Me, Not For Thee tells the story of how WDI founders pull from decades of anti-sex work activism stemming from the Global North–including their own–to create a global system of attack against trans rights in collaboration with fascists and conservative politicians. Now they’ve set their eyes on the United Nations, gaining a powerful ally through the Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women through their destructive on-the-ground campaigns and their distortions and cherry-picking of international human rights law.

To counter the threat, HLN co-developer and report author Lee Leveille lays out four areas of action items for movement organizers and our supporters:

  • strengthen community relationships,
  • educate and inoculate,
  • expose threats to trans liberation for strategic resistance, and
  • build a sustainable counter-resistance.

The report is co-published with Zinnia of Gender Analysis, who has graciously supported HLN with securing dedicated hosting.
