Doublethink: A Feminist Challenge to Transgenderism

The testimonies that follow make palpable the findings of the Lesbians at Ground Zero report.

“You Told Me You Were Different”
Writers Max Robinson and her partner Kitty Robinson started a blog about de-transitioning, which became very popular. Soon after, the cyber threats and abuse piled on from transgender activists. “Hundreds of people were saying we’re scum and shit. We had loads of detailed rape threats on line” (Max Robinson, 2020, pers. com).

The threats prompted the two activists to ask women in their social circles if they could give a personal example about whether and how they had experienced harm while being part of LGBT communities. Many young lesbians responded sharing multiple examples of abuse, from online sexual harassment to sexual exploitation and rape. So the two organizers decided to form online discussion groups using the feminist practice of consciousness raising to tell their stories and then to share them on blogs and social media and take action.
